50th Chief Justice of India!  D Y Chandrachud, took oath today!

Supreme court’s most senior judge and CJI-designate Chandrachud will be the 50th Chief Justice of the Indian Judiciary.

Justice Chandrachud was appointed as CJI on 10 November 2024.

President Daraupadi Marmu assigned him the next CJI on 17 October.

Chandrachud was a judge at Bombay Highcourt from 29 March 2000 till his appointment as Chief justice of Allahabad high court on 31 October 2013.

Justice completed his Doctorate Juridical Sciences degree from Harvard Law school USA.

Justice Chandrachud born on 11 November 1959.

His father, YV Chandrachud, served as CJI from 1978 to 1985.
